Director of NetLab UFRJ discusses digital health misinformation in Mamilos podcast

The Director of NetLab UFRJ, Marie Santini, took part in the episode “The Business of Disinformation: Who Profits from Your Health on Social Media?” of the Mamilos podcast, hosted by Juliana Wallauer and featuring Dr. Clara Lapa, a neuroscience specialist.
During episode #54, the guests discussed how health misinformation circulates on digital platforms, as well as the economic interests involved in spreading this type of content. The debate also addressed the impacts of these practices on users and the challenges of regulating and overseeing this market.
Santini’s participation highlights findings from the study “Disinformation Can Kill: Ads Involving Scams, Fraud, and Health Misinformation on Meta Platforms” conducted by NetLab UFRJ in 2025, which analyzed health-related advertisements published on Meta’s platforms.
