The Internet and Social Network Studies Laboratory (NetLab), linked to the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), published this Wednesday (the 5th) the results of a study on the presence of malicious advertisements on social networks managed by Meta, such as Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. The objective was to increase knowledge about misleading advertising, through which scams are applied to Brazilian citizens. The results indicate that Meta's platforms are being seen by scammers as fertile ground for fraud.
