CEISAL 2025: NetLab UFRJ researcher presents research on disinformation at Sorbonne University

On Tuesday (June 3rd), Nicole Sanchotene, a researcher at the Internet and Social Network Studies Laboratory at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (NetLab UFRJ), participated in the working group "Sociotechnical Transformations and Socio-Environmental Crisis: Latin America in the Ecological Transition" at the International Congress of the European Council for Social Research on Latin America (CEISAL) 2025.
The 11th edition of the event took place at the Sorbonne University in Paris, from June 2nd to 4th, 2025, with the theme: Social, Environmental, and Climate Justice in Latin America and the Caribbean, bringing together European university institutes and research centers dedicated to interdisciplinary analysis of Latin America.
Sanchotene presented the NetLab UFRJ research “Disinforming the Energy Transition: Sponsored posts in Meta platforms from agribusiness companies in Brazil”, which seeks to identify greenwashing narratives and practices to investigate how agribusiness online advertising strategies are used to strengthen anti-environmental practices.
