This Friday (10/04) the Laboratory of Internet and Social Network Studies of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (NetLab UFRJ) and the Mercosur Parliament (ParlaSul) met to discuss the impact of disinformation on the 2024 municipal election campaigns and emerging technologies in this context.
Held in Rio de Janeiro, the meeting aimed to discuss the impact of political disinformation, especially on election campaigns and content moderation on digital platforms, the use of new technologies such as artificial intelligence in campaigns and their implications for democratic integrity, in addition to accessibility, with a focus on ensuring access to the electoral process for all citizens.
ParlaSul came to Brazil at the invitation of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) to carry out an electoral observation mission in the country. This is the second time that the International Electoral Observation Mission (MOE) has come to Brazil to monitor our elections. The MOE has already released a preliminary report with its observations.
