Senacon determines rules for digital platforms and intends to launch a transparency seal

Valor Econômico - July 31, 2024

The National Consumer Secretariat of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (Senacon/MJSP) issued a technical note detailing transparency parameters regarding data from advertisements and public data on digital platforms, focusing on the operations of "big techs".

The rules announced on Tuesday (30) must be adopted by large technology companies that have platforms in the country, including social networks, messaging applications, video, image, audio and search platforms.

Valor learned that Senacon intends to announce a transparency seal for digital platforms that comply with the determinations. The seal should be presented in November, at an event parallel to the G20 meeting, held in Rio de Janeiro.

From the publication of the technical note, this Tuesday (30), companies have

four months to adapt their platforms to provide data on advertisements and 12 months to open data on public content on their platforms.

"Senacon is demanding transparency, which is something that Consumer Law guarantees, considering that the user has a consumer relationship with the platform", says the director of Netlab/UFRJ, Rose Marie Santini, in an interview with Valor.
