Thirty-four experts and civil society representatives participated in the public hearing held by the Attorney General's Office (AGU) on Wednesday (22/01) to discuss combating disinformation and promoting and protecting fundamental rights on digital platforms. Researchers, academics, fact-checking agencies and social organizations representing a wide range of sectors presented studies and data, discussed scenarios and suggested ways to regulate platforms and networks.
The debate was moderated by the deputy attorney general, Flavio Roman. The results of the hearing will be systematized and made available to the public, and will provide support to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) in rulings on the subject. They will also be sent to the National Congress, where bills on regulating the sector are being processed, and will contribute to any administrative acts by the federal government on the subject.
