The first global report by the International Observatory on Information and Democracy was presented this Wednesday (19) in Rio de Janeiro, analyzing the impacts and challenges of information in the digital age. The document brings together studies by more than 60 experts from different countries, who reviewed more than 3,000 scientific articles and technical reports on the subject.
The research concluded that there is little data available on the problem of disinformation, mainly due to the lack of transparency of large digital platforms.
“Companies that operate on digital platforms, such as social networks, are increasingly less transparent. They do not allow researchers to collect data,” says Marie Santini, director and founder of Netlab UFRJ.
