Far-right increasingly uses artificial intelligence to spread fake news

Uol - August 19, 2024

Fake news, which spread rapidly on social media, is at the root of the wave of anti-immigration violence that shook the United Kingdom in early August. The protests took place after three girls were stabbed to death in northwest England.

According to a researcher from the NetLab group at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, right-wing extremist groups disseminate messages with instructions that even illustrate how to manufacture weapons and explosives, always using Artificial Intelligence tools. In Latin America, the preferred targets of such messages have been Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador and Argentina.
