This Monday (17/05), the director of the Internet and Social Network Studies Laboratory at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (NetLab UFRJ), Marie Santini, participated in the Pint of Science project, an annual festival in which researchers present their studies and discoveries in multidisciplinary seminars.
Santini was part of the debate panel ‘Big data, fake news and 5G: who is afraid of the Internet of the future?’, reflecting on the scenario of online disinformation in Brazil and some of the challenges and perspectives that arise in the face of rapid technological innovations.
During her speech, Marie also delved into the issues surrounding the disinformation system and its mechanisms, which contribute to the manipulation of online information, such as deepfakes and bots.
The webinar was mediated by David Majerowicz (Pint Of Science Rio) and included the participation of Bruna Quaresma (COE Analytics) and Natalia Fernandes (UFF).
