Deborah G. Salles

Debora Salles has a PhD in Information Science from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and is a post-doctoral researcher at IBICT-ECO-UFRJ. She is the general coordinator of research at Netlab (UFRJ's Laboratory of Internet and Social Network Studies). She was an undergraduate professor at the School of Communication at UFRJ between 2021 and 2022.

 

She is a member researcher of the european VOX-Pol Network of Excellence, funded by the European Union Program 7 (FP7) focused on researching the prevalence, contours, functions and impacts of Violent Online Political Extremism.

She has research experience in the areas of Communication and Information with an emphasis on Internet and Social Networks Studies. She researches the logic os populist communication  and influence operations on online platforms, focusing on the development of digital and computational methods for scientific production.

She has published articles in leading national and international journals, such as Convergence, International Journal of Communication and Communication Studies.
