Presentation of the ITP and ITD Indexes
This Monday, the founder and director of NetLab UFRJ, Marie Santini, together with researcher Marcio Borges, presented the Digital Platforms Data Transparency Index (ITD) and the Advertising Transparency Index on digital platforms (ITP) to representatives of the Federal Government.
The seminar, held in Brasília, was also attended by civil society organizations involved in the study of disinformation. The Indexes assess the transparency practices and policies of the main social media platforms operating in Brazil with regard to user posts and advertising broadcast on their channels. It will be updated periodically, incorporating any changes in the companies' practices.
The ITD and the ITP are part of the Observatory of the Disinformation Industry and its Impact on Consumer Relations in Brazil, a project by NetLab UFRJ supported by the National Consumer Secretariat of the Ministry of Justice and the Public Secretariat (Senacon/MJSP).
The main objective of the Observatory is to provide inputs that can support public policies and transparency parameters for consumer protection based on analyses of the infrastructure, business model and operating methods of digital platforms in Brazil.
